Slowly building community
One of my intentions over the last few years has been to expand my community. I don’t want to get old with a tiny circle of friends; I want pockets of friends scattered across different domains. I’ve made strides this year in this endeavor. I have a small community I enjoy at my weekly Sunday art class. Building community requires intentionally putting yourself out there. This week, I joined a new group in DC that participates in bimonthly hikes and poetry readings. We hiked and stopped several times to take turns reading our favorite Rumi poems. It was grounding, lovely, and full of fellowship.
